Assistive Technology (AT) can assist students with autism to communicate more effectively, improve social skills, and enhance learning in K-12 classrooms. Students with autism show restrictive and repetitive patterns of interests, behaviors, or activities and communication and social interaction challenges. This presentation will share how AT devices from low-tech to high-tech were integrated into integrated classrooms which helped students improve their communication and social skills and reduce behavioral challenges. The participants will take away strategies to integrate AT solutions to enhance students’ learning and learn how to use SymbolStix PRIME to create low-tech, mid-tech, and high-tech solutions.
