Educators must find innovative ways to integrate literacy into science instruction to enhance student comprehension and engagement. Canva, a powerful design tool, provides an accessible solution for
merging these disciplines through interactive, student-centered
instructional strategies. This workshop, led by both an ELA and a
science teacher, will demonstrate how Canva can support literacy in science instruction. The ELA teacher will model how to leverage
students' Beacon (or any equivalent assessment) data to

Reading Between the Lines: Building Bridges Between Counselors and ELA Teachers
Thursday May 29, 2025 1:45pm - 3:00pm EDT
This session will showcase an innovative collaboration between school counselors and ELA teachers, integrating literature circles with high-interest, low-readability texts and promoting inter- and intrapersonal learning. Through reflection on their personal connections to characters, students build problem-solving skills by linking the literature to their own middle school experiences. This approach fosters emotional growth and critical thinking in a supportive, engaging environment.
